
Who Takes Care of Me?

Life is busy. Here in Trinidad and Tobago, we are familiar with the rhythm of the hustle and bustle, the demands of work, family, and community. We spend our days pouring our energy outwards into our jobs, our partners, our children, our homes. It’s a cycle of giving that can be beautiful and fulfilling.
But I want you to pause for a moment. Right now, wherever you are, take a deep breath and ask yourself a question. A really, truly honest question.
"Who takes care of me?"
Think about it for a second. Who is genuinely in charge of your well-being?
Your first thought might be your husband or your wife. They are your life partner, your biggest supporter. They love you, they worry about you, and they do so much to make your life better. But are they responsible for the food you choose to eat? Can they make you get a good night's sleep? Can they do the exercises for you? They have their own stresses, their own burdens, their own cup to keep full.
Perhaps you thought of your parents. For years, they did everything for you. They nurtured you, guided you, and took care of you when you were sick. But that season has passed. Their love is a constant, but the day-to-day responsibility for your health is now yours.
And it’s certainly not your children. They are your responsibility, the very people you pour so much of yourself into every single day.
We have people around us who care deeply, but it’s easy to fall into the trap of thinking someone else is in charge of our well-being.
The Most Dependable Person You Know
Now, let’s ask a second question.
Who is the single most dependable person you can count on, day in and day out, to manage your health?
